The Book of Mormon coming to Broward Center

The Book of Mormon, hottest show on Broadway will be coming to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the 2013-2014 season. Performance dates are yet to be announced.

Book Of Mormon, the winner of nine Tony Awards in 2011 — including Best Musical, Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical — will play at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts as part of a national tour. The twisted religious satire has music, book and lyrics by “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, working with Robert Lopez (who co-wrote the book for “Avenue Q” and has a hot new development deal with ABC).

The musical tells the story of two extremely naive Mormon missionaries sent to Uganda, where they face a warlord and indifference from the locals, who have their hands full dealing with hunger, genocide, poverty and AIDS.

The touring cast stars Gavin Creel (“Hair,” “Thoroughly Modern Millie”) as Elder Price and Jared Gertner (“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”) as Elder Cunningham.

The Book Of Mormon Los Angeles Tickets Are Still Available

The Book Of Mormon Los Angeles Tickets are still available and the top ticket can be had for $175. “Book of Mormon” tickets can sell for nearly $500 at the box office on Broadway and are tough to find. That’s because New York’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre seats 1,100, while the Pantages Theatre can hold about 2,700.

In pricing for big tours of popular plays to cities like Los Angeles, demand and ticket prices go hand in hand. Weekday performances currently have the most availability while many weekend shows, especially matinees, have just a few seats left.

As scheduled, The Book of Mormon will open the 2012-13 season at the Pantages Theatre September 05 to November 25, 2012.
