Boof Of Mormon Will Return to Denver in October 2013

Book Of Mormon hasn’t even hit the stage in Colorado yet and theater lovers in Denver are already anticipating the Book of Mormon’s return next year. Broadway’s most popular musical, Book Of Mormon kicks off the national tour in Denver August 14, 2012.

The announcement Thursday afternoon has created a lot of buzz since tickets to this month’s showing sold out quickly when they went on sale. The Book of Mormon will return to Denver for the performances at the Buell Theatre in October 2013. The change in venue is to allow more people to see the show. Tickets go on sale early next year.

The Book of Mormon national tour will play the Straz Center in Tampa as part of the venue’s 2013-14 Broadway season.

“The Book of Mormon,” created by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, is religious satire that tells the story of Mormon missionaries who travel to Uganda where they meet all sorts of people that challenge their beliefs.

The musical numbers include titles such as “You and Me” and “Spooky Mormon Hell Dream.”

The Book of Mormon will first launch its national tour August 14 to September 02, 2012 at Denver’s Ellie Caulkins Opera House.

Previously announced tour stops include the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines (January 24 to February 02, 2013) and the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis (February 05 to February 17, 2013). Mirvish Productions will bring The Book of Mormon to Toronto in May-June 2013. It will also play a five-week San Francisco engagement from November 27 to December 30, 2012.

Book Of Mormon Musical To Play In Cleveland Ohio

Book Of Mormon musical tour will make its way to Cleveland Ohio for a three-week engagement as the centerpiece of the 2012-2013 season, the performing arts center announced Tuesday. The musical-comedy “The Book of Mormon” will play at Palace Theatre from June 18 through July 7, 2013.

“The Book of Mormon is the hottest show on Broadway. It’s sold out weeks in advance,” said Gina Vernaci, senior vice president of theater operations at PlayhouseSquare. “I think it is one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen.”

Nine 2011 Tony Awards® say it’s the Best Musical of the Year. Vogue says, “It’s the funniest musical of all time.” And The New York Times says, “It’s the best musical of this century.” It’s The Book of Mormon, the Broadway phenomenon from South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Avenue Q co-creator Robert Lopez. Gavin Creel Joins Book of Mormon Tour in August

Gavin Creel, the Tony-nominated actor who starred in the 2009 Broadway revival of “Hair,” will trade in his love beads for the Holy Scripture when he joins the national tour of “The Book of Mormon,” which kicks off this summer, August in Denver.

Producers announced Thursday that Creel will star as Elder Price, the role currently played by Andrew Rannells on Broadway. Creel is set to play Elder Price, the bright-eyed Mormon missionary of ambiguous sexuality. Creel received Tony nominations for “Hair” in 2009 and “Thoroughly Modern Millie” in 2002. No other casting for the tour has been announced.

Book of Mormon tour starts Aug. 14 in Denver Colorado, then moves to Los Angeles before coming to San Francisco late this year. It will also hit Portland, Oregon; Seattle; Des Moines, Iowa,: Minneapolis; and St. Louis. A second national tour starts in December in Chicago.

The tour’s second stop will be at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, for a 12-week engagement starting September 05, 2012. The musical has been a hit on Broadway since opening last year. It won nine Tony Awards, including the award for best new musical.

“The Book of Mormon” follows elders Price and Cunningham as they travel to a remote African village for their mission. The musical was created by “South Park’s” Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with Robert Lopez of “Avenue Q.” Parker directed the show with Casey Nicholaw, who is also the choreographer.

Co-written by “Avenue Q” co-creator Robert Lopez, it features the off-colour humour and salty language that its writers have become known for. Still, Garefino thinks more mature theatre-goers won’t be deterred.

The nine-time Tony-winning musical about a pair of Mormon missionaries who get shipped off to Uganda, will launch its U.S. tour Aug. 14-Sept. 2 in Denver, CO. The premiere engagement sold-out within five hours. Also announced is a Sept. 5-Nov. 25 run at Los Angeles’ Pantages Theatre.

Additional tour stops include the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines (Jan. 24-Feb. 3, 2013) and the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis (Feb. 5-17, 2013). Mirvish Productions will bring The Book of Mormon to Toronto in May-June 2013. A separate Chicago production will play Dec. 11, 2012-March 3, 2013, at the Bank of America Theatre.

Emmy-winning “South Park” creators-writers Parker and Stone and Tony-winning Avenue Q songwriter Lopez collaborated on the script and score to The Book of Mormon, which earned Tony Awards for Best Book, Best Score and Best Musical. Co-directed by Parker and Casey Nicholaw, The Book of Mormon opened to critical acclaim March 24, 2011, at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre. Both earned Tony Awards for their work.
