From the creators of TV’s South Park, the play uses satire to introduce Joseph Smith and the creation of Mormon. Much like South Park, the play is provocative. Book of Mormon Returning to The Straz Center – January 20 to February 01, 2015

As a part of the 2014-15 Straz Broadway season, The national tour of The Book of Mormon musical will be at The Straz Center for two weeks starting from January 20 to February 01, 2015.

Book of Mormon was here in Tampa 2013. In case you missed it during it’s previous run, The Book of Mormon will be returning to The Straz Center January 20, 2015. The language and themes in the show by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone should balance any toothy sweetness from Cinderella and Annie.

The story’s about two Mormon missionaries, one a quintessential nerd who’s out of his element and the other a gung-ho Mormon who wants to work in Orlando. They somehow end up in Uganda dealing with some harsh problems.

It’s written by the guys who created “South Park” and one of the guys who wrote “Avenue Q.” There’s lots of foul language, as you might expect from that crew, but by all accounts it’s a substantial musical with great songs and lots of laughs.
