Book of Mormon National Tour Broke Box Office Records in Seattle

The Book of Mormon Musical’s national tour engagement at Seattle sold almost $2 million in tickets in one week.

The national tour of The Book of Mormon had a blowout week at the Paramount Theatre, where the Tony-winning musical broke the house record in ticket sales. The show sold $1,981,015 in tickets for the week ending January 13, beating the previous record set by the national tour of Wicked in 2009.

The Book of Mormon closed it’s run at the Paramount Theatre on January 20 and currently playing in Des Moines IOWA and go on to play Minneapolis, Saint Louis, Rochester, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Boston, Buffalo and more in 2013.

Book of Mormon Included in the 2013-14 Broadway Series in Orlando

The Tony Award-winning musical “The Book of Mormon” is coming to Orlando. The national tour of the Tony-winning musical will play Bob Carr as the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in the fall of 2014. The Book of Mormon musical will be part of the Florida Theatrical Association’s 25th anniversary season in Orlando.

Book of Mormon musical story follows two young Mormon missionaries who are sent to a remote African village that’s being torn apart by war, famine, poverty and AIDS.

Florida Theatrical Association will announce its complete 25th-anniversary season on Feb. 11. Season ticket holders will get the first chance at Book of Mormon tickets beginning Feb. 12 as part of subscription renewals. Single tickets will be available later.

Book of Mormon Opens in Des Moines, IOWA – January 24 to February 03, 2013

Book of Mormon tour currently stops in Des Moines, IA for the first time in IOWA. Book of Mormon at the Des Moines Civic Center play from January 24 through February 03, 2013.

The Book of Mormon musical skewers religious fundamentalism with a tale about two missionaries who get more than they bargained for in Uganda. Book of Mormon musical story follows two young Mormon missionaries who are sent to a remote African village that’s being torn apart by war, famine, poverty and AIDS. Those serious issues are a sharp contrast to the naive, white missionaries’ who have a hard time connecting with the black natives. McGowan says the musical’s humor pushes and often crosses the line.

The show opened on Broadway in 2011 and won a host of awards, including nine Tony Awards, one for Best Musical. The original recording became the highest-charting Broadway cast album in more than four decades, reaching number-three on the Billboard charts.

The Book of Mormon Tops Broadway Box Office for Week Ending 1/13/2013 with $1.63 Million

The Book of Mormon topped the box office last week. The show, which has been widely successful, had been kept out of the top spot for highest-grossing show in a single week by long-running hits like “The Lion King” and “Wicked.”

According to weekly box office data released on Monday by the Broadway League, “Mormon” grossed $1,630,961, compared to $1,620,752 for “The Lion King” and $1,519,043 for “Wicked”. The Book of Mormon had an attendance rate of 102.7%, about 0.1% more than that of the previous week. The 24 shows on the boards grossed $17,802,128, dropping around 21.75% from the previous week’s totals.

The Book of Mormon Breaks Box-Office Records in New York, Chicago IL and San Francisco CA

The Book of Mormon Musical, winner of nine 2011 Tony Awards including Best Musical, has broken the box-office records for the last week of the year 2012 – December 30, 2012. All the three North American productions have broken the house records – On Broadway (Eugene O’Neill Theatre), First National Tour (Curran Theatre), Second National Tour (Bank of America Theatre).

The Broadway production: Grossed $2,158,595, breaking the box-office record at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre for the 43rd time since it opened in 2011.

The first national tour: In it’s final week at San Francisco’s Curran Theatre, Earned $1,607,677, breaking the box-office record for the second time. From here, the production moved to Keller Auditorium in Portland OR where the performances continue through January 06, 2013. And the tour continues on to Seattle, Des Moines, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Rochester, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Boston, Buffalo, Cleveland and Washington, DC (So far Announced).

The second national tour: Grossed $1,645,201, breaking the box-office record for the second time at the Bank of America Theatre which launched in Chicago December 2012, and latest news is that the production extended it’s stay in Chicago through Sep 08, 2013.

The Book of Mormon in Chicago has been extended through September 8, 2013 which was first scheduled to June 2, 2013.

For the new block of shows (June 4-Sept. 8), Tickets will go on sale at the Bank of America Theatre, 18 W. Monroe. on Monday January 7 at at 10 a.m. at all Broadway In Chicago box offices (24 W. Randolph, 151 W. Randolph, 18 W. Monroe and 175 E. Chestnut).
