The Book of Mormon Musical currently playing at Fabulous Fox Theatre-St. Louis MO<\/a> for a 2-week run from February 19 to March 03, 2013.<\/strong> The Book of Mormon musical reviewed by Judith Newmark \u2013 Here is the review:<\/p>\n

The language \u2014 foul, blasphemous and very smart \u2014 delivers rhymes you can\u2019t believe you\u2019re hearing. The gestures, vulgar and explicit, inform some of the brightest dances you\u2019ve ever seen.<\/p>\n

And here\u2019s the built-in conundrum: Neither part would work without the other.<\/p>\n

Get rid of the sunshine, and you\u2019d slog through pure filth. Get rid of the filth, and you\u2019d have another meaningless, feel-good pageant.<\/p>\n

But bind them together and you have a dazzling musical, a show that draws its considerable energy from the push-pull of pleasure and shame it manages to provoke time after time after time.<\/p>\n

If those credits mean nothing to you, you probably don\u2019t belong at \u201cThe Book of Mormon.\u201d If they do, it\u2019s enough to tell you whether or not you want to see this epic about hapless Mormon missionaries in Uganda, facing such tiny obstacles as AIDS, a murderous warlord and the genital mutilation of women.<\/p>\n

Yes. In an absolutely hilarious, fast-paced musical comedy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Book of Mormon\u201d is so thoroughly an ensemble piece that it almost seems silly to single out individual performers. We get to enjoy first-class work from Mark Evans as a confident missionary who expects great things of himself, and Christopher John O\u2019Neill as his mission partner, a nerdy science-fiction fan.<\/p>\n

Best of all, there\u2019s a big climax telling the story of Mormon leader Joseph Smith. It blends African dance vernacular with the \u201cSmall House of Uncle Thomas\u201d from the \u201cKing and I,\u201d and as far as I\u2019m concerned it could have lasted all night.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s more. \u201cI Am Africa,\u201d sung by the white missionaries, skewers every self-congratulatory anthem you\u2019ve ever heard. But the brightest number is also the least offensive, a tap-dance tribute to the powers of psychological repression called \u201cTurn It Off.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
